Sculpture „Mindaugas“

Mindaugas was the first known Grand Duke of Lithuania (~1236 – 1263) and the only Christian King of Lithuania (1251–1261). His reign was marked by various state-building accomplishments and bringing Christianity in Lithuania. Mindaugas was assassinated, but his victory was his state – Lithuania. It faced advercities and overcame them, it flourished and exists nowadays. On the day of the crowning (July 6) of the only King of Lithuania, Mindaugas, we celebrate the State Day of Lithuania. This sculpture reminds the majestic past and longlasting traditions of this country.

Radviliškis is also adorned with one more sculpture of Kęstutis Benediktas – „Lituanica“. It commemorates the 80th anniversary of Steponas Darius and Stasys Girėnas flight across the Atlantic ocean.
