In 1964, Feliksas Skromanas left a huge stone memorial in Radviliškis Town. For three months, he carved a woman’s face in a stone. He told, that it was the face of the first woman buried in the new Radviliškis cemetery. Today, the stone still stands at the entrance to the cemetery.
In 1918, Pranciškus Ksaveras Skromanas, who was born in 1886 in Vyškai county, Skaviškis village (Latvia), arrived to Šeduva Town. Here he bought a house and founded a monument workshop. He made cement and stone monuments in his yard. For the monuments, Feliksas used boulders collected from the surroundings of Šeduva. He was assisted by his sons Feliksas and Eduardas.
The children of Feliksas Skromanas did not move abroad. At first, Raimondas and Ričardas helped their father: they cut, carved stones, and made monuments.
In 1988, Ričardas Skromanas founded a private monument workshop in the yard of his father’s house. He also built a house there.
The fourth generation of stonemasons – Richardas’s son Renaldas is very proud to continue the Skromanai dynasty of stonemasons.
