ŠEDUVA DISCOVERY OF THE HOLY CROSS CHURCH

Church

It is the oldest cultural heritage object of Šeduva and one of the most valuable works of sacred architecture in Lithuania. The church was built in the 17th century. avg. Renaissance, has baroque features, cruciform plan, with semicircular apse, low sacristy, double tower.

The interior of the building is rich and beautiful. The church has three naves with five altars. Some altars are baroque, and some are pseudo-baroque, but each is harmoniously combined with the general style of the interior. The fence of the churchyard is stone masonry. Pastor Prelate Mykolas Karos (1878–1955) and priest Augustinas Pranskietis (1886–1986) are buried there.

Šeduva St. The Catholic Church of the Discovery of the Cross is one of the eighteen churches in the district and one of the five included in the list of cultural assets of the Department of Cultural Heritage under the Ministry of Culture.
