„The Battle of Žalgiris memorial plaque“
This sculpture was made by the largest united group of wood-carvers and blacksmiths: Eugenijus Arbušauskas, Raimundas Matulaitis, Edmundas Gaubas, Giedrius Malinauskas and Stanislovas Špukas.
The Battle of Žalgiris was fought on 15 July 1410 near Grunwald and Tannenberg - the united army of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania and the Kingdom of Poland defeated the German Teutonic (Crusaders) Order.
The historical event which is depicted in the sculpture had a huge impact not only on destiny of medieval Lithuania, but also on the future of the Central Europe. This sculpture – a very significant symbol of Lithuanian unity.
